Under These Stars operates underthesestars.in. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we need it, and how we handle it. We have written this in plain language — no legal jargon.
A note on your birth date, time and location
We understand that date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth can feel sensitive — these are the same details used in kundali, matrimony, and astrology. We use this data only to compute star positions for your poster. We do not share or sell it. We automatically delete it 30 days after your order is complete.
We collect only what is needed to generate and deliver your poster:
Email address
To send your download links after payment, and to help you if you contact support.
Name
Used only to personalise the dedication text on your poster.
City, latitude, longitude
Required to compute exact star positions for your location.
Date and time
Required to compute the sky at your specific moment.
Occasion, title choice, custom text
Used to generate your poster's title and dedication text.
Payment confirmation ID
We never see or store your card, UPI, or bank details. Razorpay handles all payment data. We only receive a reference ID confirming the payment.
Data travels between your browser and our servers over HTTPS. Our database and file storage are provided by Supabase, which runs on AWS infrastructure with disk-level encryption. Access to your data is limited to the automated systems that generate your poster and send your email — we do not have a team of people browsing customer records.
After the 30-day window, we retain only what is required for accounting and support: your email address, order ID, amount paid, plan purchased, and payment date. These are kept for 7 years as required by Indian tax law (GST records).
If you want your data deleted before the 30-day window, email us and we will delete it within 7 business days.

We use essential cookies required for the site to function (session management and the Razorpay payment flow). We also use PostHog, a product analytics tool, which sets a cookie to count unique visitors and track which features are used. PostHog is configured to record only the events we name explicitly — it does not record every click, keystroke, or form entry. We do not run advertising pixels or third-party ad networks.
